FOOD FORUM INDIA 2009 Plays Host To The Glittering
COCA-COLA GOLDEN SPOON AWARDS 2009

Mumbai, March 20th, 2009: The first day of the Food Forum India 2009 concluded last evening with the uncorking of the glittering Coca-Cola Golden Spoon Awards 2009 – Images awards for excellence in food retailing.

On a dazzling stage that recreated the ambience of an Urban Forest, Anish Trivedi and Anoushka Manchanda played the perfect hosts and kept the crowd entertained throughout the evening with their repartees and jokes. The vivacious Anoushka even performed on a medley of the latest chart busters to a thunderous applause from the corporate czars.

The Coca-Cola Golden Spoon Awards 2009 for the Most Admired Food & Beverages Retailer Of The Year: Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) Indian Origin was handed over to ­­­­­­­Haldiram’s while the award for the Most Admired F&B Retailer of the Year: Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) Foreign Origin was bagged by Pizza Hut. The other awards won during the evening included:

·       Café Coffee Day won the Award for the Most Admired F&B Retailer of the Year: Cafes & Parlours
·        Mainland China bagged the Award for the Most Admired F&B Retailer of the Year: Dine-In Indian Origin
·       Sagar Ratna won the Award for the Most Admired F&G Retailer of the Year - Value
·       Olive Bar and Kitchen won the Award for the Most Admired Premium Restaurant of the Year
·       Blue Foods won the Award for the Most Admired Restaurant Group of the Year
·       Spencers won the Award for the Most Admired F&G Retailer of the Year: Convenience / Express Format
·         The Most Admired F&G Retailer of the Year: Large Format award went to Food Bazaar
·        Spoon won the Award for the Most Admired Food Court of the Year
·       Gourmet City won the Award for the Most Admired Food Retailer of the Year: Innovative Retail Concept
·       Q Mart won the Award for the Most Admired Progressive Food Retailer Of The Year
·       Amit Burman, Lite Bite Foods was felicitated with the Award for the Most Admired Food Professional of the Year: Food & Beverage Services

The last award for the evening for the Most Admired Food Professional of the Year F&G Retail was won by Sadashiv Nayak, President, Food Bazaar. The award was handed over by Amitabh Taneja, CMD, Images Group.

The Coca-Cola Golden Spoon Awards 2009 are decided on the basis of a comprehensive analysis of:

• Votes from consumers through a Pan India survey in 7 leading metros
• Votes from leading industry experts in the field of Food & Beverage and Food & Grocery retailing
• Nominations by various players which included information on key variables such as retail presence in terms of number of outlets / geographic coverage, operational retail space, turnover, growth in the last one year, new formats introduced, new marketing initiatives and communication
• Final Jury voting comprising of global consulting firms and leading industry observers and analysts

The Awards function was followed by Celebrations and Gala Dinner. By the end of the evening, the Coca-Cola Golden Spoon Awards 2009 made for many golden memories.
