Rajiv Dhar appointed secretary general of AFPPA

The Aseptic Food Processing and Packaging Industry Association of India (AFPPA) has announced the appointment of Rajiv Dhar as Secretary General. In his capacity as the Secretary General, Dhar will be responsible to take a lead on promoting safe and sustainable packaging and food processing, on behalf of the industry. Dhar is also the scientific panel member on Food Standards and Safety Authority of India.

An expert on packaging of materials, Dhar has a diverse work experience with both government and the private sector. He laterally shifted to the packaging industry where he combined his skills in setting up a Flexo Printing and Manufacturing Unit as general manager (works) and later headed the Flexible Packaging Division for Rollatainers Ltd. He also served as director, Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) from the year 2001 onwards. After a long stint at IIP, during October 2009 he opted for the voluntary retirement.

A graduate in Mechanical engineering with Master's degree in engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore. He has undergone specialised training in India and overseas in Engineering, & Management including Printing and Packaging.
