KFCH Malaysia plans outlets in India

KFCH (Holdings), Malaysia is planning 10 KFC outlets in India, as per internatronal media reports. KFC Holdings (Malaysia) Bhd will open 10 KFC outlets in India this year, as part of its wider plans to develop the brand overseas, Planet Retail reported.

Two outlets will open in Mumbai, with one in Pune, in close proximity to several universities. The report quoted chairman Tan Sri Muhammad Ali Hashim saying, "KFC, which has 540 outlets in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Cambodia, will invest MYR1.2 million (USD350,000) to set up each outlet. Annually the franchisee invests around MYR35 million (USD10.2 million) and sales surpass MYR1 billion (USD292 million). "The venture into India is a long term move and the outlets there will only serve halal food," he said after the launch of a KFC Graduate Entrepreneurship 2010 Programme.
