Unnat Varma, director marketing, Yum! Restaurants India – KFC
Unnat Varma is the Director Marketing Yum! Restaurants India-KFC and joined the organization in February 2006. YRI is a subsidiary of Yum Restaurants which owns the brands – Pizza Hut, KFC, A&W, Long John Silver and Taco Bell worldwide.
Unnat has over 13 years experience in sales and marketing. He has been responsible for the successful undertaking of various initiatives and ventures during his tenure at KFC. Since joining the company in 2006, Unnat has launched 19 of the 30 stores in the country and ensured KFC’s entry into the three biggest metros – Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. During the last year, Unnat was responsible for the development and implementation of three path-breaking initiatives – a new brand positioning, the development and implementation of an entire communication strategy which included print and TV communication, and the company’s association with cricket during the ICC Champion’s Trophy in 2006.
Before joining KFC, Unnat worked with Gillette for more than 11 years in India across all the four regions. At Gillette, he handled sales and marketing assignments. His last assignment at Gillette was heading the Oral Care category.
Unnat holds an MBA degree from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management and is a graduate in Engineering from the University of Pune.
