GARETH ACKERMAN, Chairman, Pick ‘n Pay Holdings Ltd Chairman, CIES WFBSC & Board Member, CIES
Gareth Ackerman expertise is built on many years of industry experience across multi-levels and aspects of the retail industry, family business,
investment, philanthropy and consulting. He is the Chairman of the CIES World Food Business Summit Committee and Board member of CIES. Gareth is currently Chairman of Pick ‘n Pay Holdings Limited (Pikwik), a board member for a number of companies, a trustee of Foundations and Trusts and Chairs the Ackerman/Pick ‘n Pay Foundations.
GIRDHAR J GYANI, Secretary General, Quality Council of India
Girdhar J Gyani is secretary general, Quality Council of India (QCI), which
is an autonomous body operating the National Accreditation Structure in
accordance with international standards. The council has been entrusted with
the task of pursuing “Mission India: Quality India” through nationwide quality campaign. Gyani has been instrumental in setting up of National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH), and is currently officiating as its CEO. He has put in 37 years of service in the areas of research & development, HRD and quality management. Gyani has been conferred with the 16th Lal C Verman Award for year 2002 in recognition of his distinguished contributions in the field of ‘standardization & quality control’.
GUNENDER KAPUR, President & Chief Executive, Foods Business, Reliance Retail
Gunender Kapur is the president and chief executive for foods business for
Reliance Retail. He started his career as a management trainee with Hindustan
Lever and soon became the executive director Foods & Sr. vice president foods
– South Asia Region. In 2004, Kapur was appointed as CEO of Unilever Nigeria
Plc. He joined Reliance Retail in May 2006.
Gayatri Kohli, General Manager, Spencer’s Retail
Gayatri has relocated back to India after 23 years of retail food industry experience in the United States. She has a BS in Food Science from California State University and has also completed her Professional Chef’s Certification from Westlake Culinary specializing in International Foods. She has also achieved the Patisserie Certification from Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute in Paris. From Dec 2006, Gayatri has been working for Spencer’s Retail as General Manager for Foods Innovation. She has been responsible for developing Spencer’s Private Label brand of Foods under the Smart Choice Label.
George Paul, GM (Brand & Allied Retail Business), BPCL
George Paul is a B Tech with MBA, joined BPCL in 1981. He has more than 27 years of marketing experience in the Company. He is currently working as GM( Brand & Allied Retail Business) & is heading the brand division which produces world class brands like Speed, High Speed Diesel. Looks after the biggest loyalty programs in the country called Petrobonus which has a business turnover of more than Rs.10,000 crore. Also manages one of the biggest convenient Retail chain called In & Out stores having more than 300 stores in the country. In & Out Stores offer additional services including ATM, rail and air tickets, money transfer, bill payments, cell phone recharges, movie and IPL tickets, and fast food from Café Coffee Day, Subway, Nirula’s in select stores.
George angelo executive vice president-sales, Dabur India Ltd
George Angelo has over 25 years of industry experience. He has contributed immensely to Channel strategy during his long tenure with Hindustan Lever Ltd and developed a series of successful initiatives like ‘Vijeta’ & the ‘Super value store’ programs. He has won many accolades including the ‘Unilever Innovations Award’ for his contributions. He also had a brief stint as General Manager Sales & Marketing for Parryware at EID Parry India Ltd. George is currently executive vice president at Dabur India since 2006. Dabur has since redefined its Sales & Distribution system through a channel strategy approach ‘DARE’ to meet the challenges of the evolving marketplace.
Gautham Mukkavilli, CEO, Frito-Lay India and President, PepsiCo, India Region
Mukkavilli joined PepsiCo Beverages International in 1991 as one of the early members of the team that launched Brand Pepsi in India. Since then, he has held general management roles of growing scale and complexity in India, Vietnam and Thailand in beverages as well as snacks. He has served on PepsiCo International, Asia Pacific leadership team for the last nine years and has played a key role in the growth of the South East Asian region.

In 2000, he became MD of Thailand Beverages, a key international market for PepsiCo. In 2004, he spearheaded the formation of a ‘Power of One’ business in Thailand, integrating PepsiCo’s strong beverage and snack portfolio in the country and delivered sustained volume and profit growth over several years and leadership share positions in both categories.

Prior to PepsiCo, Mukkavilli gained eight years of sales and marketing experience in the UB Group and Brooke Bond India Ltd, a Unilever company.
