The Indian food industry is set to grow by 50 per cent from US$ 200 billion (around Rs 10 lakh crore) in 2006-07 to US$ 300 billion (around Rs 15 lakh crore) by 2015. The share of processed food, during this period, will substantially go up from $85 billion (43 per cent) in 2006-07 to $ 150 billion (50 per cent) in 2015. Understandably, the bulk of the growth in processed food segment will come from modern retail.
